Celebrating Student Achievement
Students in Greater Manchester are amongst the most active in the country, with many taking part in and running student societies, volunteering with local organisations, excelling in sports and much, much more. Some of our students, however, are truly exceptional. Not only do they excel academically, but they manage to find the time to campaign for good causes, raise enormous amounts of money for charities, start small business, and work with local charities.
The MMSF Outstanding Achievement in Education Award (OAEA) aims to recognise these achievements.
This award was created in order to recognise the brilliant results of students across Greater Manchester, as well as highlight their inspiring characters and all-around fantastic achievements throughout the academic year.
A cash prize of £500 awaits the winner of this award
Award Panel
Applications will be assessed individually by an external team of panellists and experts to select the award winners.
A nomination for an OAEA can be made by any student or staff in Greater Manchester – as long as the nominated student meets the following criteria:
- The nominated student must have completed their final year of sixth form/college or completed year 11 in a school from one of the 10 Greater Manchester Boroughs.
- The nominated student must have attained 3 A*s at A-level or attained at least 7 nine grades at GCSE.
- The nominated student must have a 300-500 word personal statement submitted describing why they should receive the award.
- Preferred but not essential criteria include:
Regular Community volunteering
An active leadership role in school/community e.g. prefect, head boy/girl, year representative, youth lead
Examples of extracurricular activities e.g. sports teams, school clubs
An academic/character reference
